We woke up and skipped breakfast so we could get to Universal Studios and beat the huge queues for the backlot tour.

The entourage arrives at Universal Studios
This was indeed a cheesy place — showtunes and jingles were played on repeat all day long …
We bought tickets online before we left for the holidays, so managed to get a two day tickets for the price of one … however one day was the most I could tolerate!
We took lots of cheesy photos …

Shrek himself greeted us :)

It's never a good idea to stand next to a bus full of zombies ...
The queue for the backlot tour wasn’t too bad as we were early …

Onboard the tram for the backlot tour
The King Kong 360 3D show was pretty cool, as the action occurred in 3D all around us! We also saw the Back to the Future car, some shootings sets with fake street frontage, Jaws, felt the warmth of the flames on our faces from the explosions on the Fast and Furious exhibit …
We decided to grab lunch, but I decided to play it safe and eat only a little bit just so that I didn’t have to regurgitate it if the rides got too rough … (Ange wasn’t so lucky as she had a combination of dodgy beans and motion sickness to battle with!) Still, I ended up burping up my hot dog all day long …
We went on the following rides / shows: Simpsons, The Mummy, Jurassic Park, House of Horrors, WaterWorld, Special Effects Stage …
I think we’ve added more bad ride souvenir photos of me to our collection …

Shopping at the Kwik-E-Mart
The Simpsons and Mummy ride were virtual roller coasters — so when things get too scary you could always close your eyes and it’s not so scary :) The anticipation of fear made the rides scarier for me though … I even ran into the wall trying to make a quick exit from the House of Horrors …
The Jurrasic Park ride was cool — the water raft meandered peacefully along the river until the sudden drop at the end … then it was all over.

Jurassic Park ride
Luckily, I made us move seats before the WaterWorld show started, otherwise we would’ve been soaked wet in the splash zone!

Explosions galore at WaterWorld

I survived the House of Horrors!
Hopefully this will be my last time at a theme park! (Australia’s Wonderland being my first time) I think I’ve tolerated enough jingles and bad food for a lifetime!
It was close to closing time, and it was time to go and we left, with our bags of souvenirs from the Kwik-E-Mart, feeling a little weaker from spent adrenalin and queasy from lousy food …
Luckily, we managed to get our appetite back in time for dinner, and we drove to The Grove LA for dinner at Wood Ranch BBQ and Grill.
