We woke up early and headed to Warming Hut Bookstore & Cafe in Presidio (south of the Golden Gate bridge) for breakfast. We saw quite a few people lowering crab traps at the pier … apparently the bay is quite bountiful!

After dropping Monks and Ange at Pier 39 we headed back to the Golden Gate bridge for some obligatory photos and souvenir shopping …

We headed back to Pier 39 to catch our ferry to Alcatraz …

Alcatraz was an interesting and education place to visit — the prison is no longer in use (for what it was) and was now only frequented by tourists, and inhabited by seagulls.

The audio guide was excellent, and we learned about life in the prison, and featured an escape attempt by some inmates.

We caught the ferry back to Pier 39, took some photos of the seals, and then had a snack at Chowders.

For dinner that night, we picked up some supplies from Wholefoods and made good use of the kitchen in our apartment! We made steaks with browned onions, mushrooms and greens.
