Hutong, 28/f, One Peking Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

Jade -- sugarcane juice boiled with ginseng

OMG. This is the BEST RESTAURANT I have ever been to in my entire life (so far)! It has completely changed my mind about how I used to view Chinese food (practical, cheap, starchy, saucy, etc).

The setting is undeniably impressive -- it has the best views of Hong Kong. And very unlike a Chinese Restaurant, it was quite dark -- but food aficionados need not worry -- they had sufficient lighting over each table, so you can see and appreciate what you're eating.

I was afraid the standard of food wouldn't not match the setting. However the menu looked impressive, and very unlike the Cantonese fare we're used to finding. It wasn't too experimental either, as somehow the combination of ingredients was ingenious -- why didn't anyone think of marrying prawns with crab roe and salted egg yolks before??

Bitter melon salad with black sesame

Spicy Shanghai noodles

This is the signature dish -- I shall fantasise about it for a long time to come and probably request it as my last meal if I were on death row ...

Crispy deboned lamb ribs Hutong style

Wok-fried prawns with salty egg yolk & crab roe

Beggar's chicken (in clay)

Beggar's chicken unwrapped!

We were waaay too full to even contemplate dessert, even though the menu looked pretty tempting!
