Hernandez Cafe Restaurant

Wednesday, 18 October 2006

1 Burton Street, Darlinghurst (accessible via Oxford Street)

Our favorite coffee joint has opened up another store! Hernandez makes the best coffee around -- they've supplied us with our Elixir of Waking Up for the past 4 or 5 years, when we were living in Elizabeth Bay.

Now that Hernandez has the word "Restaurant" in it, we decided to order some food ... but started off with the usual cafe fare -- we just needed something simple for lunch near work, and all we had to choose from were previously some greasy Thai, a couple of curry places, MANY kebab shops, and a couple of very busy Japanese sushi places.

Pancakes with maple syrup

Being lactose intolerant, I chose pancakes with maple syrup, no ice cream or cream thanks. So I got some nice juicy strawberries instead ... Good trade, don't you think? :)

Baked beans and mushrooms

Muffin ordered some mushrooms, baked beans and bread. No eggs thanks. :) Mushrooms were cooked to perfection, not overly buttered.

Came back, but forgot the camera!! Tried out their tapas (garlic prawns) which was VERY YUMMY. Muffin had rocket salad. Mmmm.
