Dragon Castle
Sunday, 28 October 2007
Daylight saving ended today so I could sleep in without losing an hour! Woohoo!
So I was up from 11:30am and made arrangements to meet Adrian for yum cha at
Dragon Castle -- possibly one of my most favorite
yumcha places in London ... Alas, they keep running out of tofu jelly (taufoofa) ...
We were still too full around dinnertime, so Muffin and I had a cake each instead ...
:P
Kiasu again ...
Saturday, 27 October 2007
Since we had Vicky to help out with the eating, we decided to return to
Kiasu to check out the rest of the menu ...
Oriental City
Sunday, 21 October 2007
We decided to show Vicky the only Asian (i.e. Oriental) Foodcourt in London (I think) --
Oriental City in Collindale.
After our hefty lunch, we waddled over to the Asian supermarket to get more snacks and
food ...
Believe it or not, we managed to cram in coffee and cake in Cafe Red on the way home ...
White Chocolate and Coconut cake
Homemade laksa!
Wednesday, 17 October 2007
Muffin made laksa ... FROM SCRATCH last night, so we managed to have leftover laksa for
lunch today.
Muffin's laksa
I like Muffin's laksa -- it's not as greasy as the ones you get in the restaurants and at
least you know what you're eating :)
Whole Foods Market
Sunday, 14 October 2007
Vicky had been ranting about this indoor, air-conditioned market (we've dragged her to
Borough Markets once) so we decided to get up *early* ... on a SUNDAY MORNING so we could have
brunch at the upstairs market when it opens at 10am.
The main market only opens from noon onwards and there was a small crowd at the door when
we got there around 11:30am.
We made our way to the
upstairs market ...
We sampled some free food, and bought some snacks and expensive ham.
Mmm ... crackle!
Wednesday, 10 October 2007
Made a Chinese roast pork tonight ... rubbed hoisin, white wine, soy and garlic on the
meat, while keeping the skin as dry as possible. Skin wasn't as crackly as the shops, because
I didn't pierce it, I think. Chicken bakuteh soup, and steamed bok choy were the other
dishes.
Thai for dinner
Tuesday, 9 October 2007
Vicky made duck green curry and Thai beef salad for dinner tonight ... yum!
Just a regular day at the home office ...
Monday, 8 October 2007
Vicks started work today so we were back to our usual thing -- working, ducking out for
Nero, working, making dinner (garlic prawns with asparagus, steamed salmon with ginger and
soy, chicken soup), more working, and then TV.
Covenant @ The Electric Ballroom
Sunday, 7 October 2007
Went to Chinatown for dumplings and noodles, queued for ages at a Chinese supermarket for
my fishballs, tofu, barley.
Later that night, wore my new black outfit to the Electric Ballroom and saw ...
Client
Covenant
We got a different crowd from usual, I think because of the all-girls electronic band
Client, who were dressed in latex. When they appeared onstage all these guys surged forward
and my views were obstructed by bald heads with thick necks for the rest of their gig ...
As soon as Client was over the crowd dispersed a little and I managed to see Covenant from
between two tall people with big hairs ...
Eating and shopping
Saturday, 6 October 2007
I woke up starving after the Great Purge last night, and keen to wipe out memories of the
lousy dinner.
We headed to Angel and found some cool markets, and a fish shop with queues of people
inside and outside, and made a mental note to come back some other time.
Starving, we picked a random restaurant, which turned out to be a place called
Isarn. I've decided to make this my favorite Mod/Thai
restaurant.
Bought myself a black jacket and black jeans (my first clothing purchase in a long time)
from Sisley. I don't have to rely on getting about in my ONLY pair of jeans which has now
formed holes any more ..
The runs
Friday, 5 October 2007
Went apartment hunting with Vicky in Swiss Cottage -- at a housing estate, not very nice
:B
I was starving so we went into a Vietnamese restaurant ... some dishes were ok, but there
was one disgusting fish stew that none of us could stomach. And 30 mins later I was sitting on
the porcelain throne feeling sorry for myself ...
Night Watch
Wednesday, 3 October 2007
Muffin and I scored free tickets to Night Watch at Odeon Holloway. Cool movie with a
typical storyline of good vs evil, light vs dark, but with atypical heroes.
Tiramisu
Tuesday, 2 October 2007
This was Erik's last day in the London office, so we brought a Tiramisu to share ... beers
at the Fire Station afterwards.
